Who We Are

Hopsec is a specialised security consultancy founded by a team with over 15 years of international experience in high-level security and intelligence fields. We do not believe in one-size-fits-all software patches, automated checklists, or humanised ISO-standard risk assessments. True operational security is human-focused.

The Founder

Almos Huszthy is a London-based intelligence and security professional and the founder of Hopsec. His career spans over 15 years across multiple disciplines, including cyber security, physical security, human intelligence (HUMINT), web and social media intelligence (WEBINT/SOCMINT), counter-surveillance, and open-source intelligence (OSINT).

His academic background includes study at the National University of Public Service in Hungary, and he is currently furthering his education at The Open University. His published research includes work on penitentiary systems, human rights and online safety.

He is an active member of two research communities that keep his work connected to the broader field: the Extreme Right Research Network (ERRN), a scholarly consortium that brings together researchers studying far-right extremism, radicalisation, and their intersection with digital platforms; and the Community of Practice on Human Security, a virtual forum launched by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) that convenes experts monthly to discuss practical examples of human-centred security approaches for emerging threats. These affiliations ensure that Hopsec's methodology remains grounded in contemporary research and connected to the wider academic and practitioner community.

In his current role as Intelligence Manager within a globally recognised Research and Intelligence team — Almos leads a range of research projects at the intersection of market intelligence, AI threats, platform governance, and online safety.

This combination of hands-on intelligence tradecraft, regulatory expertise, and emerging AI capability informs Hopsec's approach: building operational security strategies that are not only grounded in real-world threat landscapes, but also responsive to the technological and regulatory shifts shaping them.

Recent speaking engagements reflect his commitment to advancing security practices across disciplines. In June 2026, Almos participated in the Terrorism and Social Media (TASM) Conference at Swansea University — one of the world's leading international conferences on extremist and terrorist use of online platforms. During the event, he contributed to discussions on Researcher Safety by Design, presenting practical OPSEC methodologies for scholars studying digital extremism. This session addressed critical gaps in how researchers protect themselves while investigating high-risk online communities — aligning closely with Hopsec's own philosophy that operational security must be human-centred, not checklist-driven.
